Notice: All hiking trails PD Kobarid closed until further notice!
Extreme weather conditions in Slovenia in recent days have fostered the ice and especially in the area of the Julian Alps, large quantities of fresh snow, so it is in forests and other areas due to sleet and snow large amount of fallen trees. Natural disaster, among other things also led to extensive damage to trails, because they are due to large amounts of fallen trees impassable (and will be fully or partially impassable much of the time), retention in these areas will continue for some time to life-threatening.
So they until further all hiking trails maintained by the PD Kobarid are CLOSED!
Also note: Due to the high risk of triggering avalanches do not recommend a visit to the mountains, because when such a situation we can expect a number of medium-sized and many large spontaneous avalanches picked, including those in the moderate slopes. In the wider area of the Julian Alps (including the western part of the Karavanke) these days overdue more than a meter of new snow, so that there is a high risk of avalanches. Only this will be the expected rain at the end of the week to an altitude of 1000 m increase, the higher we expect the new snowfall. So the next day absolutely do not recommend walking in the mountains.
As soon as hiking trails safe we will inform you on our website!
